Fever

Fever is a symptom of an infection. Increase in normal body temperature above 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit(F) or 37 degrees Celsius is usually Fever. Fluctuations in body temperatures are common with minor infections, or even to healthy people. However, temperatures of 103°F and above are considered potential danger.

Fever usually occurs in response to an infection or inflammation. However, many other causes are possible, including drugs, poisons, heat exposure, injuries or abnormalities to the brain, or disease of the endocrine (hormonal or glandular) system.

For small children high fever may be severe, febrile seizure. Symptoms are shaking, jerking of arms and legs, a fixed stare or the eyes rolling back, drooling, heavy breathing, and skin turning blue. If you saw this symptoms, please consult your doctor immediately.

• Saturate 25 raisins in ½ cup of water. Once soaked, crush them in the same water. Strain the mixture and add ½ tablespoon of lime juice to it. Have this tonic twice a day.
• A person suffering from common fever is suggested to eat lots of oranges. It increases the energy in the body and promotes resistance against infection.
• Another effective remedy to cure common fever would start with boiling a cup of water. Add 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder, some ginger pieces, onion pieces, lemon grass, ½ a tablespoon of black pepper and 5-6 basil leaves. Intake this mixture three times a day to treat common fever.
• If the temperature is too high, or accompained with heavy headaches, or the fever persists more than 5 days, then consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Prevention

The fever can be seasonal and a symptom of several illness. It is hard to prevent, however, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleaness in food and lodging can help prevent to some extent.
