Sports Concussion

Concussion is a traumatic injury from mild, severe shake or impact on the head. That can make people feel like seeing stars, feeling goofy or dazed for a little while after being hit. The brain is a soft organ that is surrounded by spinal fluid and protected by a hard skull. Actually, the fluid around brain acts like a cushion that prevents the brain from banging into the skull. However, if the head is hit hard then brain can crash into the skull and be injured.

The signs and symptoms of concussion may be subtle. Some common causes can be fights, falls, playground injuries, car crashes and bike accidents. Concussions can also happen in any sport or activity such as football, boxing, hockey, soccer, skiing or snowboarding. Nevertheless, dramatic loss of consciousness and seizures are not common in concussions.
