Human hair is being redundant these days due to recent trends of skinhead. However, it’s a symbol of beauty and prestige in our culture and tradition. That could be the reason why legend has record of Marie Antoinette’s hair changed overnight to white before she was guillotined. That is extremely unlikely to have happened - stress may play a crucial part in a gradual process, but not so instantly.
In fact, hair color is the pigmentation of the hair follicles. Several scientific journals as in references show two types of melanin: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Melanin has adverse effects on human hair, more melanin means darker color and less melanin means lighter color. Ironically, hair is pigmented by the same mechanism as our skin – a pigmentation process referred as “melanocytes”. Presumably, melanocytes make its way to follicles through numerous complex mechanisms, resulting in some particular hair color.
In conjecture, the causes of white hair can be faulty diet with lack of vitamins and minerals, anxiety, fear, tensions, stress, heredity and chemical products used in hairstyling such as dyes, strengtheners or permanents.
